Love Lane

Love Lane

by Ed Alcock (2014)

I returned to Sleaford last winter for the funeral of my grandfather, Harry. It was a brief and painful visit to bid farewell to the last of my grandparents. This homecoming, after many years of estrangement, triggered in me the desire to document life in this small rural town of eastern England.

This is a place that to me is both intimate and foreign. It is a small town in the middle of nowhere. This is where my parents grew up, met and married.

When I started taking pictures last summer, my gaze was drawn towards young adults and pensioners, without understanding why. Then recently, upon recalling a family secret, I realized what I was looking for.
