Home, sweet home

In his latest photographic series, Home, sweet home, initiated by Brexit, the Anglo-French photographer, Ed Alcock engages a reflection on the profound changes taking place in his country of origin, the United Kingdom. Feeling excluded by an ever-more inward-looking Britain, the photographer, who recently obtained French nationality, questions the meaning of belonging to a nation, the place one calls Home. While Europe deletes one of the yellow stars on its flag, he looks back at his country and countrymen in a tender, ironic yet disillusioned way, and wishes them godspeed.

Home, sweet home will be exhibited in Paris from 20 April to 30 June 2019 in the Circulation(s) festival of European Photography.

Dans sa dernière série photographique, Home, sweet home, initiée par le Brexit, le photographe franco-britannique, Ed Alcock engage une profonde reflexion sur sa mutation identitaire et celle de son pays d’origine, le Royaume-Uni. Se sentant exclu par une Grande-Bretagne toujours un peu plus repliée sur elle-même, le photographe, ayant récemment obtenu la nationalité française, interroge le sentiment d’appartenance à une nation, celle que l’on appelle Home. Alors que l’Europe efface l’une de ses étoiles jaunes sur son drapeau, il observe son pays d’un oeil à la fois tendre, ironique et désabusé, comme une façon de lui dire farewell.

Home, sweet home sera exposé à Paris du 20 avril au 30 juin 2019 lors du festival de la photographie européenne, Circulation(s).
